1. Flame retardancy: the flammability of materials refers to the ability to maintain combustion after obtaining high energy for ignition from oxygen and nitrogen mixture. The recognized standard for flammability measurement is UL94. The method is to first ignite a vertical sample of predetermined shape, and then measure the time taken for the material to automatically extinguish. PEEK test result is V-0, which is a good level of flame retardancy.

2. Smoke generation: ASTM E662 is used to measure the smoke and dust produced by plastic combustion. This standard is used to measure the visible light dimness of smoke and dust produced by burning standard shape samples in the smoke and dust laboratory of the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in the unit of specific optical density. This test can be conducted under the condition of continuous combustion (with flame) or combustion interruption (without flame). PEEK in plastic has low smoke generation;

3. Toxic gas emission: PEEK is the same as many organic materials. During high-temperature decomposition, PEEK mainly produces carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. The British aircraft test standard BSS 7239 can be used to detect the emission of extremely low concentrations of toxic gas. This detection process requires 100 grams of samples to be completely burned in a space of 1 cubic meter, and then analyze the toxic gas generated therein, The toxicity index is defined as the ratio of the concentration of toxic gas generated under normal conditions to the dose that can kill people in 30 minutes. The index of PEEK5600G is 0.22, and no acid gas is detected.
